i'm 20 years old and i'm at the odontology college. I like to sew, knit and cook in my spare time... well, at least when i'm not playing videogames or sleeping XD and I love animals, specially dogs =)
I don't visit this page often, so don't be angry at me if i don't anwser the comments and messages ç__ç besides, my english is not thaaaat good, but i'm trying to improve ^^
I started doing cosplay in 2003, but my first contact with it was in 2000-2001. I was amazed at the possibility of being my favorite characters for one day, and as i began to know more and more about the hobby itself, I felt like doing it. My first costume was pretty simple, it was the white dress Sara Mudou uses in the cover of the last Angel Sanctuary manga, which was my favourite at that time.
What inspires me to keep on doing my costumes is the making of the costume itself; it is my favorite part to think about how to do something and to try my hand at making real something which only exists in drawings. It helps to improve various skills, such as sewing and sculpting, and it's also a good way to relax and spend time.
Wearing it at a convention or photoshoot is a nice way to see that all of your work was worth the time spent, but is not the main reason why I do it. Some people do it for the contests, some for the "fame", but I try not to let that control me. Compliments are nice, of course, but someone who do this only for them is doing it wrong, in my opinion. There are better things to be good at life, not on something that is meant to be a hobby.
I am open to give advice about a costume, and how to make things work, so don't be afraid to ask! I don't like the rivalry some people do, like "oh my god, this is MY character, no other person has the right to cosplay him!". I think every costume and every cosplayer will always be different, and that is the whole magic about it =)
