Well, I know it's just too late, but my christmas was nearly the same like yours. I also didn't get much presents and gots more money for buying the things I like to. I'm agreeing with you, that this is much better than always getting presents you don't like. :)
Ah, ok, so that's the problem you have with your costumes. You just don't like your costumes and can't find a good commissioner. That's really a problem. If I could I would like to make costumes for you, but I can't, because I live in Germany and haven't much time for making costumes for other people, so that's the reason I can't do commissions. ;_; I'm so sorry for that! T_T *cry* Hhm ... but what about trying a commissioner on ebay.com?! Of course there are many commissioners, which make bad costumes, but there are some really good one, too. So why aren't you trying out asking one of them doing a costume for you? Maybe you can find one, who isn't that expensive and make good costumes. The main thing you have to do when you're buying a costume from one of them is telling the commissioner exactly how you would like to have the costume and no shiny fabric. Usually you shouldn't have problems then with it. Would that be something for you? Oo

You're right. I agree. It's very difficult to do a character as original as you can. That's the most difficulty for every Cosplayer. But I'm glad, that we all are doing our very best. ^^ *cuddle*
