I'm very very sad to know that some people have no respect for others.
Last year, at the brazilian final of the WCS, two friends of mine had many difficults, microphones didn't work, the sound gave trouble, but they went to the stage and they really DID the show as Emeraldas and Captain Harlock, unfortunatelly they didn't went to Japan, because of so many trouble, but fortunately, other frriends went representing Brazil.
Now, eight months later, in Mexico's WCS selection, we found out a team copyed their performance.
I think that if you're copying something equal from the anime, its going to be common to have more people doing the same. But my friends love so much the anime, they actually MADE their performance from zero. Something new, based on Captain Harlock but much more than get a singe part of the anime and do the same.
And it's it that I think it's wrong. The Mexican Team copyed the performance, except for one or two little things, and the scenery. Actually they copyed everything, and added a giagn hq in the background. And the worse: they NEVER asked my friends permition for reproducing their performance or same scenery, they haven't even let credit for them anywhere, and thetop of the iceberg: THEY KEEP ON SAYING THEY CREATED EVERYTHING.
And everybody knows that's not true. A friend of mine, who is friend of the mexican team said that a few months ago he sent videos from brazilian performances in the last years WCS, and the girl liked. So it isn't just a coincidence, like I know people should sa. They copyed and that's a fact.
My friends are really sad with this situation, because this team is recieving credit for their work.
They're so dear that I think that if the mexican team had talked to them them wuld even become friends, and them could help... but they didn't and that's not right.
Unfortunately the WCS doesn't have a rule about copycats. But I'm glad this mexican team didn't get classified.
I'm really sorry to bother you all with this, but I feel like someone needs to tell it to the world. Maybe someday it will get to the Mexican Team -I don't know the cosplayers- and they would feel ashamed for what they did with others hard work, and at least, ask for an excuse.
All my friends are asking for, is credit.
We live on a Creative Commons License world. Giving credit is not going to kill you, will only proove that you're liying saying that you did something, other people did.
As we say in Brazil: "Lies have very short legs." So one day when someone catch a lier, and the truth comes out, the only one who gets bad is the lier.
