So, I've been to two anime conventions in my life thus far. ACen 07 was my first, and I pretty much walked around like a dork in awe, hardly taking to anyone. I did a old cosplay to fit in with the other cosplayers and so that I would met other Silent Hill nerds, but overall the con was just me drooling over costumes and starving because I had money for only one meal a day.
Then there was Ohayocon this year. If it wasn't for Jim, I am not sure I would have gotten the chance to really soak up what anime cons can be about. Ohayocon was the first time I felt zen at an anime con and I finally broke out of my shell a bit and talked more with cosplayers, especially Silent Hill ones.
Now, its time for my third round and this time I am overly preparing. I'm almost done with my first costume (Yukari Hayasaka from Paradise Kiss) and soon, after I get some details here and there done, I am moving on to my Steampunk costume. Hopefully in about 2 weeks I will be able to goup to Chicago and get some of my co-costume with Brian done for our Silent Hill costume. I find this whole thing kinda ironic because at last years ACen I was just exstatic to meet Brian in his ScissorMan Costume and see his SH Movie Nurse up close, and this year I am gonna be strapped to his back.
Overall, I feel all these experiences are really helping me stay focused as a cosplayer. I'm already getting better at it, the more I look at my old costumes, the more I wonder why I even wore them out!
I'm so excited about ACen. I am gonna be involved in a Paradise Kiss Photoshoot, go dance my tail off with Jim (I wanna do some kind of theme costume for the dance, but I don't know what yet), enter the masquerade with Brian, and show off some of my originality with my Steampunk costume!
ACen can't come sooner!
