Cosplayers for the Courtesy and Safety of Others
It's happened to many of us- you're crusing the halls at your favorite convention, showing off your newest cosplay threads from under your heavy wig/helmet/armor/what have you, stopping to chat with nice folks and get some pictures taken. Suddenly, out of nowhere, with nothing but a few hollow thumping footfalls to warn you, your whole world is turned upside-down (often literally) as you are hit, full force, by some mysterious, and usually squealing, whirlwind! You don't have time to think, breathe, or protect the wig it took you five hours and seven cups of coffee to style, or inform the girl who is currently stuck to you that the necklace you are wearing is real metal, and could possibly slice your throat at the proper angle-nope. All you can do is wait for the craziness to pass..
.. Yes, alright, it's an overdramatization, but it's still not uncommon for a cosplayer to get glomped without their knowledge! I created this community to spread awareness to others on the issues of these "fangirl surprises"- things like getting glomped, kissed, or even something as dangerous as yaoi/yuri paddled without being warned first. It's not that I think affection for the character or person is a bad thing- not at all! I love getting hugs! It's just not SAFE to leap on somebody whose peripheral vision may already be not-so-good without them knowing, you know? I'd like to support a safe AND affectionate Con environment!
If you feel the same way, please feel free to join! Everyone is welcome! :3
