After three weeks of picking at it, behold Juri's sword from Utena here and here, ready to be gilded. She was going to accompany me and a costume to a certain animé convention in Denver, but that isn't going to happen. ;_; Same old reason. *sigh*Anyway... It's made almost entirely of leftovers. The only thing I bought specifically for it was the foil tape I put on the blade. I wanted to see if it lived up to it's reputation. Final verdict: The effect is pretty good and it is affordable, but it's not that much different from applying standard metal leaf. The only reason it's not as pull-your-hair-out frustrating as leaf is because nothing is simpler to gild than a flat plane. All in all, it's a fine finish for sword blades. Next step is to gild the hilt. I was originally planning on just painting it, but then I realized that paint up against foil isn't going to look good. ^_^;

I know, I know. 300 jokes are trite and overdone. I couldn't help myself. I just can't take men in leather BVDs seriously. :) Anyhow, without further ado, here's a shot of my cartoon Zelda costume, at long last! Overall, I'm very, very happy with how it looks. The wig is the only thing I don't like, but I have a new one picked out that will be much better.

After procrastinating for a month on the buttonholes, the fortune cookie pajamas are done! I made the fortune cookie buttons myself since I couldn't find any commercially. Trouble is, I did too good a job. They're practically indistinguishable from the print! ^_^; Oh, well.
You have to see close-ups of the fabric to really understand why these PJs are great. Words do not describe the awesomeness of this fabric!
Behold! Gaze upon the coolness that is mine! And I just stumbled over it; I wasn't even in the store to buy fabric. I was after some $0.99 patterns. I didn't notice until I had gotten it home that this wasn't just any fortune cookie fabric. It is sarcastic fortune cookie fabric! It was made for me!
*sings* Spam-inating the dwarven lands-!
I didn't make these for cosplay, but they can be considered such so here they are. :)
I made these several years ago simply because I thought they were the
bee's knees. It's what set me on my quest to be the Ms. Frizzle of
pajamas. Being a broke college student at the time I couldn't afford to purchase
from the company who supplied them to the show. Enter the Internet! I
found a place to buy the fabric and voilà! My very own pair of kitchy
BtVS PJs! I was halfway through cutting the top before I realized the sushi was
facing the wrong direction. -_-; Not having enough fabric to
re-cut, I just went with it. It's right side up to me! ;-p
If I was smart, I'd wait until after Expo to post this, but oh well. Another commission project that took way, way, way too long!

My interpretation of what Sailor Saturn's transformation pen might look like, in solid cast resin. While I'd love to take credit for the idea, I can't. The primary source of inspiration for the design and color scheme was a fan art video game "sprite" I saw long ago on the Web, with a healthy helping of reference to the wands seen in the Sailor Moon S animé series. I did do all the sculpting, molding, casting and finishing, though.

Not cosplay, but a project I was very pleased with none the less.

I aim to be the Ms. Frizzle of PJs. ;)
I'm in a good mood this morning and there is no logical reason for it. I think I'll chalk it up to the fact that Litha was last Thursday so the nights are getting longer. I always feel better in fall and winter when the night forces hold sway. I am a trifle bummed that I won't have my Tonks costume for the Order of the Phoenix opening. I couldn't find my robe in the storeroom and there isn't money for the wig right now. Oh, well. It'll happen one day. Besides, I don't have anyone to go with and showing up to a movie premiere alone and in costume is a little too geeky even for me! ^_^; Oh, there's a baby roadrunner in the office backyard! XD That reminds me, I must remember to bring the hummingbird feeder after lunch. I've seen a couple of them flitting about the last week.

What a time to be broke! The Harry Potter Leaky Cauldron metal sign at Hot Topic is adorable! Over-priced, in typical Hot Topic fashion, but adorable. I wonder if it'll be over-priced enough to wind up in the clearance rack? Probably not. When I like something, it sells out.
I am an ovine. ^_^; I'm also needy, so add me and make me feel loved! Pretty please? With mugwort and wormwood on top?
