JEM is excitement
Posted On 09/27/2007 22:07:46
So I have 26 episodes of Jem that I've been watching. It brings back 9
yr old memories. "Like a Dream" is cartoon song gold. It's STILL good
and I sang along.

In
the ep I saw last night Jerrica is excited that Jem is 1 on the band
charts. She only showed this for 4 frames and of course cause it went
by fast I just had to see what it said....

Jem: fact or fiction

We
had a good laugh realizing the band and singer names they parodied cause
they figured no one would see it.... even then only the geekiest person
would look. I AM THAT GEEK.

Prince
Bruce Springsteen
The Rolling Stones
Iron Maiden
Twisted Sister
The Ramones
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Tiny Things

For my Victorian costume I had to pick up some buttons. Well after the
ordeal with finding suitable black fabric that was dressy but not shiny
I was fully prepared to spend a little time on it. Well I came round
the corner and these buttons were all "Hi Gabi, we heard you were looking for us. And look we come in a pack!"
So I glanced at the rest of the aisle, shrugged and picked them up. I only
used 2 of them initially cause of the rush. I'll use more later. But
look at them, aren't they just lovely and cute? I can't get over the
old design.

Oh
and going with the tiny theme, I just got these earrings a couple weeks
ago. They are Hemione's Yule Ball earrings. I just love little props
like this that don't say HARRY POTTER when you wear theme.

Victorian Dragoncon

I finished my Victorian dress last night!! I was so tired I didn't have the energy to post this then.
This is what I get for watching the anime Victorian Romance Emma last week.

Victorian Romance Gabi

This is the only good image of the skirt. It's from Wednesday when it wasn't hemmed yet.

I've made some head way on my Victorian aristocrat this week. I finished up the skirt by working on after work which is unusual for me. I usually only sew on the weekends.
Messy Kitchens

Since
this picture was taken the skirt has been hemmed and the zipper was
sewn in.  Now the vest is half way done and I will be lining it today.
I held up the buttons to it and I might opt to buy different ones while
I go shopping for lace today.

A shout out must go to Dark Morning
for giving me this fabric. She wasn't doing anything with it and out of
the goodness of her heart just shipped me 5 gorgeous lengths of fabric.
The gold print of this outfit is one of those. It just kept repeteing
to me that it wanted to be a victorian dress. That also might have been
strenghthened by my recent watching of Victorian Romance Emma.

I'll be wearing this Saturday at Dragoncon.

Victorian Romance Emma

So I was surfing last night when I should have been sewing for Dragoncon.

On some off chance I decided to look up something on Victorian Romance Emma, a series I saw the first season of and then it ended with the translated manga only going a little ways after. I looked for more for weeks and months after that. No updates and I stopped looking.

Then when I was looking it up last night I stumbled on to Anime News Network's page on it and it mentioned a second season back in April . WTF man!!! I didn't hear about that.

Sure enough I go looking and yes, there it is and I am searching furiously for torrents. Then sadness, it had just been licensed which is why iichan stopped torenting.  I check piratebay, youtube, and 3 other places people suggested and no dice.

Then suddenly isohunt had a torrent of the whole second season....thank goodness cause RightStuf is gonna take their sweet time subtitling it.
Even sweeter is that the 2 gig file took about 4 hours to DL. Thank you seeders and now I repay you in seeding it back out.

In case you haven't seen this meticulously animated historically accurate beyond belief anime go find it. Anglophiles, Victorian era enthusiast, subltle love story lovers, and drama lovers will love it. Even if you aren't one of those.. try it out...it's such a nice mix and a break from outrageous anime with huge eyes and craziness.

Right stuff will have it out after a while but at least each season is $40. For 11-12 eps a season that ain't bad.

First time I went to a simpsonizer I didn't like the result. They had nothing close to my eyes, skin tone or hair. The official one is much more awesome.

And yes I am a Battlestar Galactica fan.

Go so the Simpson's movie site and post yours here!

Age of Aquarius
Posted On 07/18/2007 11:59:26

There were celestial happenings after dark that were rather cool. Peter called me outside for this:

(click for larger)
Five stars and the Moon aligned

Took this one with a higher ISO
brighter

It was the age of Aquarius outside. The Moon was in the second house and Jupiter aligned with Mars and all that...
That's 5 stars lined up with the moon. I think the brightest star might actually be Venus.

On the non interesting news I got a new vacuum and while I was out
buying it I ran into a fellow cosplayer. That was funny and odd.
I also remembered an excellent idea I had for AFO cosplayers last year. I
am SO implementing it this year. People will love it. As for what it
is, that is a secret. Don't want anyone robbing my idea.

Drive by Blog -Harry Potter Movie-
Posted On 07/09/2007 23:35:18
Many phone calls occurred today. I don't talk on my cell much but the day had plans for me.
Dad called
Sister called
Peter called

Then
Erik called me half way through my day. And what did he have? Harry
Potter movie tickets. Apparently a friend of his was press and had two
tickets. Erik couldn't use them cause he already had plans.
My sister had her family in tow down here for 2 weeks and I offered to take my 10 yr old niece to the movie a day early.

Plans were made and we went.

Movie
was meh. I fully expected to enjoy myself and it was beautiful but
lacked flourish. The screenplay chose to show us far too much over and
over. Some explainations were childish and "duh" and the Snape
flashback scene was WAY too short.

But it had some great lines. I think I need "I must not tell lies" on a Tshirt.

I
am still very grateful to Erik for thinking of me. Thanks Erik, you
rock so hard. I'm also glad I could share that moment with my niece. I
really want to connect with my nieces and nephews before they figure
out we're not as cool as they think we are.
