First off, allow me to wish you all a great Valentine's day. Especially to those who don't have someone to spend it with. Fret not, you are loved. Go do something special for yourself and forget all this lovey dovey BS. That's what I do when I'm alone one this stupid holiday.
You see, normally I hate Valentine's Day. A series of bad relationships coupled with really bad Valentine's Day experiences can have that effect on a girl (or anyone for that matter.) But this year and last were actually pretty good. My boyfriend, Dean is a sweet heart and last year, knowing that the previous year I had a sucktastic Valentine's Day of massive perportions, he went out of his way to make sure I had a good one. This year he's doing the same. We're going out to sushi, which we haven't been able to do of late, and we're going to see a move. Yes, it's simplistic and not overly romantic but I'm one of those people who's idea of a good date is ordering a pizza and playing Devil May Cry and Soul Caliber till 5 in the morning, so... yeah.
Anyways, the cool thing is that Dean gave me my present before he droped me off at home. He got me a replica of Dante's sword, Rebellion. (that's Dante of Devil May Cry. Yep. I'm a fangirl. A big geeky fan girl. lol.) It's real spiffy. If I can I'll get pics of me with it or something. hehe.
I still don't know what the heck to get him. He's so hard to shop for and he certainly isn't any help.
Me:"Honey, what would you like for Valentine's Day?"
Dean: *shrug* I dunno.
Me: *sigh*
He drives me crazy sometimes but I love him anyways. I'll figure something out. Eventually. Luckily he's not hung up on presents for such things but I would still like to get him something.
ANyways, I hope your day goes well and that you all have a happy Valentine's Day. *hugs and cookies*

Hi there. I figure the best first blog on one of these sites is usualy a small introduction of myself. So here goes.
My name's Adana. I also go by Cat Scratch, Creea Shawn, and Mowse (as well as a who slew of other names but those are my most common cosplay/convention names) I'm a colledge student studying Theater arts with a costuming and makeup emphasis. I work at a costume shop here in the Bay Area (been there 7 years now) where I work primarily as the Make Up expert and the resident anime/video game freak. LoL.
I've been designing and making costumes since I was about 8 or 9. Been going to cons since I was about 15 or 16. I forget. I tend to go for the hard to do costumes. I don't know why. I guess I like the challenge and the fact that not everyone does them. I'm also attracted to villans, vampires, and the obscure characters that don't get cosplayed a whole lot. I tend to just fall in love with a character and get obsessive about making their costume. I'm kind of weird like that.
I've won awards at Baycon and a couple other places. Not big prestigious ones but I'm still proud of them. Um... let's see... what else... Oh right, hobbies, interestes and the like:
I like video games. Been an arcade rat for years. Fondest memories I have involve me and my brothers trying to beat eachother at Karateka. (Yes, it's old school. I'm 27. What do you expect?) My favorites include: Devil May Cry (all of them), Castlevania Curse of Darkness, Mortal Kombat (all of them), Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Guilty Gear XX, Clive Barker's Undying, American Megee's Alice, F.E.A.R, Resident Evil, Soul Caliber 1-3 (haven't played 4 yet), WoW and many many more.
Music wise I like it all. Goth, Industrial, Rock, Punk, Classical, Swing, Flamenco, Sca, Opera, Folk, etc. I don't really have absolute favorite bands. I tend to just like certain songs regardless of who they're by. I just like music as an artform in general.
Books/Comic Books/Mangas: Um... I like to read. Lots. Neil Gainman, Clive Barker, Terry Prachet, Edgar Allen Poe, H.P.Lovecraft... on and on the list goes. Among my favorite books are
Neverwhere by Neil Gainman and the orgional
Phantom of the Opera by Guston Lurrox. Some of my favorite comics include "Violent Messiahs", "Generation X", "Whichblade", "Dawn", "Lady Death", "Barcrawl of the Damned", "Gloom Cookie", "The Darkness" and more. Mangas are kind of hit and miss with me. I either glom onto them like a rabid fangirl or I get the first couple issues and then never pick them up again. "Model" and "Pet Shop of Horrors" are two that I really enjoyed enough to read the whole series. I also like "Hunter x Hunter" though I wish they'd finish it but oh well. My boyfriend got me into "Bleach" and for a while I was reading "Naruto" but I don't keep up with them as much as I'd like.
Uh... other stuff: I like to Flamenco dance. I've been doing it for nearly 7 or so years now. (lost track a while back) I fenced for 3 years competitively. I use to run my own home haunt (haunted house out of my home) and did so for 6 years. Just this last year I was part of a haunt called Rebel Yell that was part of a bigger event put on by the Pirates of Emmerison up in Freemont. It was quite fun and I hope to do it again next year. Oh and I LARP (live action role play). The one I'm currently part of is a Vampire the Masquerade group called Bay Area Masquerade in Mt. Veiw. It's pretty fun.
I think that's pretty much it. I'll add more if I think about it. I should also warn you I have a strange sense of humor and tend to go on weird little rants about odd things. So be prepared. Muwahahahahahahahahahahha.... tee hee.
