Greetings from LAX! We got more than our fair share of complaints from our friends. "Why didn't I see you!?" they ask. Well, that's because on day 2 of Anime-Expo, we, the Better Waffle collective, decided that AX was full of fail. We don't want to go too into it but we will say this.. every horror story you hear is most likely true.

Guests of honor crying? Confirmed. Tales of $15 dollar nachos? Believe. Our last Anime-Expo, possibly ever? Totally.

It's not all bad though.. once we realized how little we cared to be there, lemoned and I went sight seeing like a bunch of tourists. As for cosplay..

Yeah, we didn't do much of it ourselves, especially after the back of my Jet costume literally melted off of me due to the heat. So, all in all we had a horrid little time but we made the most of it. We watched a lot of Tom Hanks movies, saw a fish that looked like Kipi (WA ZARUDO!) and had chicken and waffles for dinner.

It sure has been a while since you've heard from us, but that's because we've been busy, toiling away on costumes for Anime Expo. At least, we were toiling away until we came to a realization.

Project Unicorn Giggles is just not going to happen in time. So, instead of Lemoned working in the hot hot heat of Bakersfield until the last possible moment, we've decided to put our epic cosplay project on hold. Let's just say it's been "delayed indefinitely." Yes, that's the professional way to put it.

So where do we go from here? Surely, we have a contingency plan in place, right? Uh, we're working on that, actually and we'd like to introduce that plan to you right now. We won't come right out and say it, so for now..

Greetings! The warm bay area breeze is making it feel like a lazy Sunday. All I want to do is curl up on my bed and take a nap. Unfortunately, I actually have work to do and I'm not talking about Project Unicorn Giggles, but let's talk about that anyways!

Lemoned has found herself a helper! I can't be there to lend a hand on the crafting end of things, but fortunately for us, a kind soul has stepped up to the plate when we needed them the most. So please welcome special guest star, Chief!

Unlike most kitties, Chief (named after our hero) has five toes on each paw, making him four times more awesome than most. This is great because I seem to be more occupied playing Pac-Man Championship Edition and chasing GPS coordinates for small, rural parts of South Africa. Sometimes, my job baffles even myself.

My big contribution to PUG, however, shall only further its epic scale.

Greetings! Last time, we introduced you to Project Unicorn Giggles, our top secret cosplay project that's set to debut at Anime Expo. While progress is constantly being made on it, it hasn't been without its setbacks. Let's talk about one of those today.

Lemoned and I aren't exactly close. And by that I mean there are 300 miles between myself and her at any given moment. We get together every few weeks or so, but when we do we seem to spend more time out and about -- generally dillydallying and not working on whatever costume we have on hand. Well, we did it again this month and boy are we paying for it.

And by we, I actually mean Lemoned.

Currently, PUG is nothing more than some very intricate origami (which should give you some sort of hint as to what we're up to), but it's pretty mind blowing to look at. As stunning as it is, we're a little over 2 weeks out and have little more to show other than some impressive paper craft.

Well, that isn't entirely true. There are also some pretty silck props involved and near completion as well. With any luck, lemoned will still be relatively sane by our next update.

Greetings! Being from California, we only have one thing on our minds at the moment: Anime-Expo. With less than a month to go, we're scrambling as much as everyone else in a desperate attempt to finish our costumes before the event. The difference, however, is one of secrecy-

We'd like to introduce you all to Project Unicorn Giggles:

When we originally announced the project, Lemoned had this to say: "This will be so great an under taking that once I've completed it, I will
have nothing else to strive for. I will have seen the top of the
mountain. Beaten cosplay."

Damn.

Project Unicorn Giggles (or PUG for short) is our top-secret cosplay project that we've tinkering on for some time now, but only recently have switched into full gear. Why is it a secret? Well, it mostly comes down us wanting to hide it from our friends so that we can spring it on them as a surprise, but seriously, it was an excuse to draw unicorns.

The project itself is so massive that we're actually considering putting some of our planned costumes on the chopping block. The first of which would be a return to Eureka Seven. We debuted our Renton and Eureka at AX last year and we thought it'd be nice come back with episode 50 costumes, but as something of a repeat it's been set to low priority. Sorry, Gogo! If we manage to finish up our other costumes, maybe we'll get E7 done just yet.

Let's make this short and sweet: we're A Better Waffle and welcome to
our new digs. We're a California cosplay duo (sometimes trio, Momo!)
who are looking for a better way to organize ourselves. Cosplay may be
"seriouzzz bizznizz" but really, dress-up is dress-up.

We have a
lot of conventions to attend and a lot of costumes to craft, so we'll
be chronicling it the best we can. Feel free to shoot us some words and
invites and we'll be sure to do the same.
