At Anime Expo 2007, Day 0 we will be hosting the first Annual Cosplay Chess game! Its a super fun event for cosplayers and others to watch, participate, and have lots of fun. Also there will be a chance to win a fabulous prize basket!!!

the Location for the event will be located on the grass between the Lagoon and the Arena of the convention center!
We're trying to set up a way for possible rendevouz or other methods to let people know that Cosplay chess will be in a different spot! If anyone has Ideas or would like to volunteer in Leading other people or players to the location, PLEASE contact me as soon as possible, preferably with a PM.
Schedule. THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT!!!
3:30 - Setup.
Anyone can show up for this but if you do you will be expected to help us out unless none is needed. But we'll find something for you to do.
4:30 - Chess Pieces Arrive.
If you are a piece in either match 1 or 2, Regardless of which team you are on, you must show up No Later than 4:45.
4:45 - Orientation
Orientation will include basic Gameplay: how pieces move, how battles work.
Once the verbal stuff is explained we'll do a mock Battle moment so everyone gets used to getting off the board and getting back on.
5:00 - The event begins
The event will start at 5:00. when you hear the sound of teh announcers voice that means you are late! if you are late you will be put on the Backup list for the second match if you were to be in the first match. If you are in the second match then you will be briefed during the setup of Match 2 but you will be scolded harshly!!!! by ME!
6:00 - First Match Ends and Winner of Contest is announced. Photoshoot opportunities.
We will end the First Match at 6 on the dot. Whoever has most pieces on the board is the winner. END OF STORY. Afterwards we will collect the sheet(s) for the contest and announce the winner.
Also during this time you may take pictures with or of any of the pieces. WilP and I will be doing photoshoots for everyone, getting a few snapshots of each of you! so make sure to see us!
6:30 - Second Match Begins
The second match Begins. If you are in the second match and do not show up before 6:30, you will not be playing. Period.
7:30 - Second Match Ends
At 7:30 the second match will end and Cosplay Chess will be Over. After the match all 4 teams will congratulate their opponents and at that time More photo opportunities and what not will be available.
7:45 - Tear down.
At 7:45 we will officially end the event and thank everyone for coming. after that we shall begin tear down and clean up everything, food, the playing field, equipment, and other things. If you are coming to watch, please clean up after yourself and if you can, help us too! the sooner we clear out the sooner we all can go on with the evening!
Donating Items for the Contest Basket
the members of the cosplay.com Chess teams have decided to create a little gift basket of anime goodies, which will be given to the winner of a contest we have created. But we need items from you guys! so PM me and let me know if you'll donate anything for the basket, or just bring it and we'll see!
FAQ
How does this work?
Basically we have two teams of cosplayers, representing each piece on a giant playing field. Then we have a table with 2 regular people (or not) playing a normal game of chess. As each player makes a move the corresponding piece will move to the proper space. and thats how it works
How do pieces capture one another?
When a piece is captured, the attacking piece can do any action they would like as long as the opposing piece has been destroyed/captured.
Examples would be: A light cosplayer takes out their deathnote and kills their target, or a naruto cosplayer stabs their opponent, or uses a jutsu. The defending piece has 1 chance to make an attack, which will ultiamtely fail.
How can i help?
Spread the word, let everyone know that its going down. If you don't understand chess you can still help or play. And people to help set up the mat once we have it!
