After so many people talking about this anime, i finally watched "The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi". What can i say... this is one of the greatest series i have ever seen!
Usually, i don't like pseudo-cult-series with "messages" and all, cause it tend to get exagerated and the supposed "messages" actually says nothing! Now now, Haruhi was a very good exceptcion! I don't know even how to say it...i always thought about it, and while i watched the show, i felt great to see more people actually thought the same way
To begin with, the great thing about Haruhi is that it actually talks about our world and society, and all that bizarre things happenning just works to make it even more visible.. The terrible fact that reality is cruel, and the life is actually boring. We all do the same things, we all go to school, learn how to live and act in society, go to college, get a job and live a life that, at all, had nothing special occuring. Everybody dreamed at least one time about doing things we can't do, actually, we do this all the time as a escape vault from our reality, from our boring routine. Most of people can actually fit in some point of our world and fells happy with this(thank godness!), just using escape vaults to relieve their stress, but for some people, escape vaults are not enough, they actually NEED to be special, to live in a different way.
That's the main point of the series. Haruhi and Kyon are the two ways a person can go on, they are the opposite, and the same. Both felt how boring and common their lifes were, but decided on diferent paths. Kyon understood that there is no way around it, reality is cruel, there are no people who could be called special or unnatarual and if he kept looking for it, he would just suffer more and more, never fitting in the world he lives , cause what he wants is totally impossible. Haruhi, in the other hand, never felt it was ok. If the world is so big, if there are so many people, why everybody must be the same? Why something out of common sense can't happen? Instead of believing that it is all impossible, she just find it to be VERY rare, but real! And if it is real, she must find it at all costs, cause this is the only way she has to be special, otherwise she is condened to be forever a normal human with nothing different at all.
And here we met what is so great about this show. I find myself very similar to Kyon, and i think most of you would think the same. We all would LOVE to live in a world where we could break the rules of the common sense, and do something very different. Some people like to live a common life, but deep inside, at least in one thing, they prooly wish to be different. But even though we all wish this, we have no choice but to go on, grow up and take charge of our lifes, otherwise we would be strangers in this world. Someone who haven't give up in this dream, will always be seen as eccentric, strange or crazy...someone like this will be outside of our world, and that's why we acept this fact and keep going with our lives.
Of course,this is something that change from person to person. For some, a common life is more than enough to be happy, and thoose usually don't need many escape vaults...just ocasionally watching a movie and going on to play sports may be enough. While other people need to forget who they are while reading books, playing video games, watching movies, animes and cosplaying, so they can keep living =P Anyway, at least in one point, everybody does it, and this way live goes on and we can be happy, after all.
Anyway, even though this is pretty obvious when you stop to think about it, most of people don't realize this, and the way the show points it out is fantastic, funny and pretty much a joke with ourselves. Everybody should watch this =P
P.S.: This is subject for another post, but it's not hard to understand why animes actually brainwashes some kids, after all, they want to believe in super powers and all with all their will, and than they see anime shows talking about never giving up and how everything is possible when you try hard...=Pw
Oh Jesus, i need a day with 48 hours!
I have a ton of things to do, i gotta study for college, work in my costumes, draw, play video games, watch anime, movies and all... this list goes on and i can't handle it! X_X
The worst of all is that i should be studiyng right now, but i don't have any will power left for it... i wanna play Darkstalkers and Watch Haruhi Suzumiya goddamit! I wanna work in my costumes!
Well, whatever. First things first. I hope i'll have time to do this next weekend...right now i gotta work. And here i go....
