I had just about abandoned Cosspace. I got very frustrated at the great picture fiasco back when they messed up anything that already had a logo on it. There went all my EBK and Maboroshi pics. Then some of my cosplay buddies added me and I came back and worked on my gallery a little bit. Katie also sent me an invite to a group but I have no clue where it went.
Anyways, my cosplay plans are fairly limited this year. Pretty much I'm only making costumes for Dragon*Con. I just use some of the free events as an excuse to go ahead and get one done. I recently finished Refia's freelancer outfit from the DS version of FF III in time for AUSAM-Con, but none of us at the con had cameras. I'm about to start working on another one I might wear to Momocon. But I haven't talked to many people about so hopefully I can surprise people with it. It's a really under-represented character. I'm collecting materials for Primera and Susan Sto Helit. And Yaya had this great idea to do an EGA Oz group, so I'm going to try and use my left over metallic fabric from Donna Troy to put together a Tin Man costume. Speaking of Donna I think I'm going to check out ACE next month and wear that costume there.

Okay, so livejournal is down and I just don't know what to do with myself right now. And I'm trying to figure out what all to take to Dragon*Con. I don't want to be busy the whole time dealing with costumes.
First off I have Amalthea done that I want to wear to meet Peter S. Beagle in. I really wish con schedules would go up earlier so I could plan that. I might just need to get some makeup for this.
The bodysuit for Donna Troy is done. I still have to make the belt, arm things, choker, and boots. I also need to order the wig, but I know exactly what I want at least. And at least I've also already got her earrings and eagle pendant.
Fran's dress is done and planning for the FF/KH shoot is going well. I've still got to make the sleeves and petticoat. I did start working on her ears. And I think I'm going to slightly modify some shoes I already have.
So those are my main costumes.
For the Harry Potter book release I threw together a Tonks costume. And I have friends bringing HP costumes so I might put a bit more work into her to bring.
My boyfriend and I have Mulder and Scully costumes from Halloween. So if he feels like it we'll probably bring those.
And my dad is slowly but surely working on a Death costume from the Discworld books. I really want to make a Susan costume to go with that. But this might need to wait until next year. I really want that costume to be badass. And while I just happen to already have some materials for it, I really want to put the time and money into a rockin corset for it. Plus secretly there's one of my friends who I know would also do Discworld cosplay that I'm hoping to convince that she needs to come to the con even though it is very far away for her.
Which bring me to the fact that I think I pretty much already have my plans down for next year. Which will be:
Rayearth, hopefully a group with myself as Primera.
FF/KH, my next costumes for this subject I want to make are Olette and Miss Cloud. So I guess it'll be one of those.
Discworld, as mentioned above.
And an original design for a group with Yaya.
So I've got an old pink cheap wig around and some Prismacolor markers. Which means I think I'm going to throw together a Tonks costume for the book release. I also found some old pins from the last release, including Hufflepuff. And I've got some model magic, foamies, and paint. I can probably assemble some kind of wand out of that I'm thinking.
So months ago I had picked the perfect suede I wanted to use for Fran's ear insides and shrug. However for well, months I was also unemployed. So of course when I finally get around to ordering it the two suedes I wanted were out of stock over at spandexworld. I promptly searched denverfabric for back up fabrics, and got swatches for those in recently. I'm getting a moleskin and a peachskin instead of the suede I orginally wanted, but I think they'll do fine. And maybe now I'll actually be motivated to work on Fran.
Next month I'll be needing to order wigs for D*Con, which will probably take a whole weeks' pay. I'm not looking foward to spending that much on them, but I've gotten very particular about getting the exact things I want.
Budgeting is also part of why after this I'll probably try and just do one nice new costume per con I actually make it to. My plans are getting grander and loftier and I just couldn't afford to make one of those future costumes the way I would want if I was trying to put together multiple costumes for every event.
I had this thought today that it might be fun to start a series of sort of but not really crossplay costumes sometime. Just what does that mean, why transvestites of course! I already started thinking about making a "Miss Cloud" costume sometime. And then I've been wanting a Hedwig costume since probably the first time I saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The "Sugar Daddy" costume is probably my favorite, but it might not be the most recognizable. Of course Hedwig would be a D*Con only costume since that would be the only place I would expect it to get any appreciation con-wise. And then maybe I might add Beppo on my list of Gankutsuou costumes to do after I get at least one of the others done. And at least Beppo would not be such a huge undertaking like the Count and Haydee will be. And none of this is anything to be started remotely soon, but I think it would be a fun idea.
